15. Ben Plays With Drew's Jaw - Primate
Primate is one sick puppy of a film, firmly delivering on the promises of its "a slasher movie but with a chimp" setup.
Director Johannes Roberts serves up a number of memorably grisly death scenes, but none more so than that of Drew (Charlie Mann), who rocks up at protagonist Lucy's (Johnny Sequoyah) house looking to party, blissfully unaware that rabid chimp Ben (Miguel Torres Umba) is running murderously amok.
Drew heads into Lucy's bedroom where he's cornered by Ben, and though Drew makes a game effort to remove himself from the situation, ultimately he's helpless against Ben's overpowering strength.
Ben shoves Drew down onto Lucy's bed, grabs at his jaw, and tears it clean off, Roberts sparing no spew-worthy detail via some utterly gnarly practical gore effects.
And if that's not enough, we then witness Ben playing with Drew's removed jaw, the mischievous little scamp that he is.
Drew may have been a totally disposable character in the grand scheme of things, but this scene was extremely effective in selling the primal fear of being dominated by an animal.
