6. Dennis Got Rocky Killed, Didn't Have A Twin - Twinless
James Sweeney's superb black comedy Twinless had some absolutely demented reveals up its sleeve.
The marketing sold it as a somewhat sweeter story centered around two men, Dennis (Sweeney) and Roman (Dylan O'Brien), who meet at a support group for people grieving their late twins and develop a co-dependent friendship.
Yet in reality, the film reveals right away that Dennis was romantically involved with Roman's late brother Rocky, and more to the point, was accidentally involved in his death, distracting him during an argument when he was crossing the street.
From here, a guilt-riddled Dennis effectively decided to stalk Roman, cooking up the premise of having his own late twin so he could insinuate himself into Roman's life and grow closer to him.
It's fascinating stuff and quite brilliantly executed, even if for many in the market for a more adorable story this darker direction was so totally jarring.
