7. The Man Is Ingrid's Son - Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die
Considering how obviously Terminator-inspired Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die is, we probably should've seen this one coming in retrospect.
Gore Verbinski's utterly loony time travel black comedy follows an unnamed man from the future (a fantastic Sam Rockwell) who attempts to recruit individuals from a Los Angeles diner to help him fend off an impending AI apocalypse.
One such person is Ingrid (Haley Lu Richardson), a young drifter with a strange allergy to electronic devices and Wi-Fi.
In the film's climax, however, Ingrid receives a vision from the AI which reveals that the man is actually her son from the future, while suggesting that he will have a better life if she embraces the impending AI "utopia."
She of course chooses not to do that, and though the AI attempts to trick them both with a faux-happy ending, they end up seeing through it before realising that Ingrid's tech-allergy is seemingly the key to defeating the AI once and for all.
What a delightfully odd film this was from start to finish.
