3. Graeme Willy Paul
Acting as the comedic sidekick to Nick Frost somewhat different to their usual arrangement, where Pegg is usually the hero Peggs ridiculous turn taking an alien half-way across America so he can go home was predictably awesome. The leading duo have been a long-established comic double act who are completely comfortable in each others presence and it shows here, with both characters pulling off the wide-eyed shock and mannerisms associated with harbouring a fugitive alien with gusto. Peggs performance was manic and endearing, and we loved it he wasn't just a nerd, but a good nerd suffering not only from his regular social awkwardness but the utter social awkwardness of being not only out of depth in a foreign country, but being out of his depth on a universal level. Really, Id go as far as to say this is Peggs biggest love letter to geekdom while his collaborations with Edgar Wright result in sly referencing, subtle sight gags and glorious spoofing, Paul was far more overt, featuring Pegg channeling with unnerving detail the passion of a Comic-Con visitor with aplomb. Comic book geeks could relate to the passionate Graeme Willy showed around Jeffrey Tambors star writer Adam Shadowchild with ease and his eventual thrill of helping an actual alien as well. Combine this with some good old-fashioned slapstick and youve got a recipe for success.
