4. Run Fatboy Run Dennis Doyle
Run Fatboy Run was the very definition of throwaway. It was an OK film, but absolutely nothing stood out about it and probably fittingly for a fillm featuring dieting there was very little to sink your teeth into. It was formulaic and predictable, a charge that can be levelled at both at the script and the actors. In the middle of this slice of vanilla film-making was Simon Pegg. You can see why hes there his appearance as an everyman compliments the underdog nature off this story extremely well. Yet I just couldnt figure out a reason to root for him, something that wasnt helped by his decision to run out on the adorable Thandie Newton at the films beginning. In my opinion, such an opening gambit was just too much for anyone to come back from, even for such a likeable screen presence as Pegg. Despite his nice nature, hes simply given too much to do within the films run-time, and running the London Marathon doesnt somehow give him a good enough redemptive arc to atone for his wedding-bolting act. So while he tries manfully to make the film more than the sum of its parts, Pegg unfortunately became part of the problem, creating a headache which the whole thing never quite recovered from.
