7. Miss Moneypenny
Just as Q wasn't featured in
Casino Royale or
Quantum of Solace, neither was M's secretary, Moneypenny, who was played by Lois Maxwell from the beginning of the series to the end of the Roger Moore era, then by Caroline Bliss for Timothy Dalton's two films and finally by Samantha Bond in the Pierce Brosnan films. From the beginning of the series, Bond and Moneypenny have had a flirtatous relationship, one which Moneypenny would like consumated. There were rumours early on that Naomie Harris, who plays a field agent named Eve in
Skyfall, would be playing Moneypenny. Unless Eve gets demoted to being a secretary throughout the course of film, it's unlikely that she is Moneypenny. Nevertheless it'd be great to have a reference to the character somewhere in the film. If M (Judi Dench), retires at the end of the film, the new M, whether it's Ralph Fiennes' Mallory (M?), or another character, could mention bringing in a new secretary, eithering referring to her by name or just implying that it's a woman. It'd be a nice little nod for fans and would set up Bond meeting Moneypenny in the next film.
