Skyscraper Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

1. The Snappy Runtime

Skyscraper Dwayne Johnson
Universal

Skyscraper clocks in at a lean 102 minutes, meaning the whole ride barely lasts 90 without credits, ensuring that for all of its many issues, it's a fast-paced ride that doesn't drag itself on any longer than it needs to.

In a time where so many blockbusters needlessly bloat themselves out to 2.5-ish hours, there's something to be said for high-concept tentpole movies that get in, get out and don't leave the audience checking their watches.

It may rush through that first act, but the last hour of the movie feels like a pretty tight disaster scenario, speeding through all the beats you'd expect and getting to the finish line without making the audience yawn. These days, that's an achievement. Bravo.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
