Skyscraper Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

Ups...

5. Dwayne Johnson's Rock Solid Performance

Skyscraper Dwayne Johnson
Universal

Pardon that pun, but yes, Dwayne Johnson gives a reliably entertaining performance as skyscraper security operative Will Sawyer. Though the script doesn't have him dropping hilarious one-liners every five seconds, Johnson does his damnedest to sell the intensity of the scenario and make the audience root for him.

Hell, Johnson's so magnetically watchable he even manages to make a sequence where his character holds together a wound with duct tape halfway convincing. Even when everything else in the film falters, he's the one unwavering constant: he has the audience in the palm of his hand and does the fine work his fans expect.

But seriously, Rock, would it kill you to be a little pickier with scripts in the future?
