42. Chewbacca's Nickname

Most fans lovingly refer to Chewbacca as "Chewie", just as Han himself does, but it sure didn't start that way. After the two settle their differences and decide to team up to escape their imprisonment, Han notes that they need to come up with a nickname for the Wookiee, because Chewbacca's too damn long and, as he puts it, "I ain't saying that every time."

Admirably, the movie leaves the gag there and doesn't ruin it by having Han quip, "I know...Chewie!" or something equally on-the-nose.
