Sony & MGM Announce BOND 23's UK Release - Friday 26th October, 2012

There's still no press conference to reveal the cast & film title yet, but MGM and Sony Pictures have just announced that the 23rd James Bond adventure will open in the U.K. on Friday 26th October, 2012. That's two full weeks ahead of it's U.S. bow on Nov. 9th, 2012. Sam Mendes is confirmed in the director's chair and Daniel Craig will lead as Bond says the press release but no mention of Judi Dench (who we already believe to be back), Javier Bardem (who has been offered the lead villain role and now The Dark Tower's production has been delayed could be in a position to take it) or Ralph Fiennes (offered another major role). Also there were reports previously that Roger Deakins, the legendary cinematographer of The Coen Bros movies and who took over the job of working with Mendes on Jarhead and Revolutionary Road when his previous cinematographer Conrad Hall (Road to Pedition, American Beauty) passed away, might be on board. That€™ll be great news for Bond and carries on Mendes€™ terrific nack for hiring talent that make his movies look so lush but this has yet to be confirmed. John Logan (Sweeney Todd, The Aviator) and Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (a duo who go back to the Pierce Brosnan days and The World Is Not Enough) wrote the screenplay after Peter Morgan was replaced a while ago. Now we can only hope with a release date intact that casting will be full steam ahead.
