Spaceman from Pluto

Almost unbelievable to think now, but back in 1984 when production was about to begin on Back to the Future, the head of Universal Studio's Sid Sheinberg listened a little too closely to his own market research and began to panic, sending out a memo to everyone involved with the film that no movie in the history of cinema with the word "future" in the title had or was ever going to make any money. He told producer Bob Gale, the movie should be titled Spaceman from Pluto. Thankfully, Steven Spielberg, the executive producer sent a reply note thanking him for his €œjoke memo.€ Back to the Future went on to make $381 million worldwide, spawning a successful franchise with two further live action sequels. Spaceman from Pluto, thankfully went into the "parallel cosmos" I was talking about earlier. source - mental floss blog
