11. The Musical Cues

Old Bond music played a key part in the marketing - the trailer included nods to both On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Thunderball - and the iconic OHMSS theme can be heard at times throughout the film's soundtrack. The classic Bond theme also appears a couple of times, including a slinky oboe version at the start and the traditional arrangement at the end. And as a second, next-level reference to a past Q quote, Sam Smith's "The Writing's On The Wall" is a direct quote from Pierce Brosnan's Bond in Goldeneye - the quip he uses to Q when demonstrating the exploding pen.
