Spider-Man: 10 Dumbest Ideas Sony Had For The Franchise Before Teaming With Marvel

The fact Sony ever thought they could manage without Marvel Studios is kind of mind-blowing, but they were determined to forge on with The Amazing Spider-Man franchise without their help. The studio made the right choice eventually, of course, but that changed last year when they unexpectedly decided to continue telling future Spider-Man stories... minus Marvel.

It boiled down to a disagreement over money, but enraged fans made their displeasure known online with the #BoycottSony hashtag, and even Avengers: Endgame director Joe and Anthony Russo shared their disappointment over the news.

As you might expect, the prospect of Sony being in charge of Spider-Man's future without Kevin Feige's input horrified many, especially after the disastrous creative decisions which were made in Venom. Thankfully, the studio eventually saw the light, and made a new deal which will keep the web-slinger in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for at least one more solo movie and a cameo appearance.

Hopefully, that arrangement will continue as the dumb ideas listed here definitely offer an idea of how awful things might have been with Sony solely in charge on Spidey's future...
