A seemingly popular entry on the list is who could have been the eight-armed menace. The Otto Octavius we are used to from the comics is an eloquent scientist, but what about a more rough and ready version of Doctor Octopus, portrayed by Bob Hoskins. This story once again comes from the cursed Cannon era of Spider-Man and we could have had the smooth-talking cockney could have killed it as Doc Ockney.

As previously said, Tobe Hooper had left the project to be replaced with Zito, but he then left to be replaced with B-Movie master Albert Pyun. The script underwent a massive rewrite and Hoskins and Ock were out. Pyun's version was to have Spider-Man face off against a vampire-scientist hybrid who sounds a lot like Morbius.

It is a damn shame that Hoskins didn't get a crack at the octopus. Alfred Molina was near-perfect as Octopus, but there will eventually come a time when someone else takes the part. Sadly, with Hoskins' passing in 2014, it won't get to be him.
