Spider-Man 3 Revisited: 5 Awesome Moments You Always Overlook

3. Emo Spidey

That's right; the iconic Emo Spidey montage is one of the best things about the whole godd*mn film.

People collectively lost their minds about this when the film came out and judging by the fact that even Into the Spider-Verse made fun of it last year, they still are, understandably so. But a lot of the reaction to it seems to come completely without context. Yes, it is an undeniably goofy scene that feels instantly dated and odd, but that's exactly what Raimi is going for.

The symbiote doesn't actually make Peter cool, it just gives him way more confidence than he's ever had before, leading to him indulging some of his most uncool instincts. He's that same goofy little nerd who everyone bullied in high school, just with his personality cranked up to eleven.

And it may sound like sacrilege but... it's funny.

From Raimi and Bill Pope's exaggerated camerawork to Maguire delivering instantly unforgettable cheese-ridden lines like, "Now, dig on this!" before launching into a jazz piano solo, this stuff is genuinely really well done and humorous. In a film that often feels a bit self-serious and overstuffed, it's a welcome delight.
