Spider-Man 3 Revisited: 5 Awesome Moments You Always Overlook

1. The Venom Transformation

Look, there is a lot to not be happy about in how this film used Venom. Even Raimi himself has expressed some serious regrets about it in recent years. But if nothing else, the bell tower sequence in which Peter rips the symbiote off of him and it descends upon an unsuspecting Eddie Brock is flat-out incredible.

In a great many ways, it's maybe the most perfect summation of the core themes of Raimi franchise as a whole, seeing Spider-Man rid himself of his evil impulses only to see them manifest in new ways which he must then overcome for the greater good.

From Christopher Young's wonderful score, to Toby Maguire's fully-dedicated performance, to the cinematography, to even Topher Grace's work in this scene, this is the best moment of the entire film if not the best moment of the entire trilogy. It's a staggeringly wonderful few minutes, so well-made and so well-executed that they feel completely at odds with the third act that comes immediately after.

But regardless of how bad the third act of Spider-Man 3 gets (read: very bad), this sequence is phenomenal.
