Spider-Man and Donnie Darko are actually Brothers

The often compared Jake Gyllenhaal and Tobey Maguire team together as brothers for Jim Sheridan's remake of the 2004 Danish flick Brode.

Back in April, it was announced that Get Rich or Die Tryin' helmer Jim Sheridan was set to shoot an English language remake of the 2004 Danish hit Brothers for Relatively Media. On the day it was announced, Sheridan said he was looking for A-List actors to fill the main roles of his piece and by the sounds of it he has got his wish. Variety say Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal are in talks for the lead roles in the war drama which centers on a guy (Maguire) who is sent out to fight in Afghanistan whilst his black-sheep brother (Gyllenhaal) looks after his wife and child.

David Benioff who I can tell you from first hand has wrote an incredibly awful script for Wolverine, is re-drafting the movie which is set for a November shoot. Jake Gyllenhaal

Sounds like an interesting tale and it's going to be interesting to see what Maguire and Gyllenhaal can do together in the same movie. They are often compared in the public eye because they are from the same generation and started making a name for themselves at the same time. Also, with Jake Gyllenhaal constantly touted as the guy who could play Spider-Man if Maguire ever quit the role, casting them as brothers seems to be a smart choice because people already think of them as being similar. We await the casting of the wife, the pivotal female role in the film that was portrayed by Connie Nielsen in the original. The remake seems to have gone with younger actors for the lead roles, to add to the sense of this young guy who is taken away from his family at such a young age. So far so good on the casting side of this one.
