Although a lot of commentators compared Spidey's new Far From Home suit with the red and black costume seen in the Superior Spider-Man comic, its roots actually go further back.

When Spider-Man first appeared in 1962's Amazing Fantasy #15, he didn't sport a red and blue costume. Instead, Steve Ditko drew the character in red and black, and with a white spider on the back.

It's the main inspiration for Far From Home's suit, and works on pretty much every level.
