Spider-Man: Far From Home - 8 Fan Demands That Must Happen

8. S.H.I.E.L.D. Back In The Spotlight

Since the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D. in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the MCU has been lacking a genuine super-spy presence. It's only recently that Nick Fury has mounted a full return to the canon, featuring first in a post-credits scene for Avengers: Infinity War and then in a full prequel for the upcoming Captain Marvel, but it's looking increasingly likely that Samuel L. Jackson's character is experiencing something of a resurgence, with the actor also confirmed to be reprising his role for Far From Home.

Jackson is joined by Cobie Smulders' Maria Hill this time around, and given what we know of Far From Home's villains, it appears as though the film will boast something of an espionage focus. We already know that the super-spy Chameleon will feature (albeit in what capacity is still unclear), and with Spidey having been spotted wearing a new array of outfits on set - including a particularly stealthy black garb - it wouldn't be disingenuous to assume that he and Fury are in cahoots.

Such a partnership isn't actually without precedent either. Fury has linked up with the wall-crawler plenty of times in the comics (although Spidey, and most Marvel heroes when they're called upon by Fury), is something of a reluctant participant, and it's with that in mind that Far From Home's tone comes into focus.

It'll no doubt retain the High School beats of its predecessor, but given the success of Winter Soldier and Civil War, it's easy to see why fans were after a return to that genre.
