Spider-Man: Far From Home - Everything We Know So Far

6. Does Tony's Absence Mean He Dies In Avengers 4?

Avengers: Infinity War had a pretty horrendous body count, with Loki and Gamora likely to stay dead for the foreseeable future, but there were obviously other deaths too - those that occurred in the wake of Thanos' snap. Pretty much half the Avengers turn to dust, but Tony Stark - who only just about managed to survive his encounter with Thanos - stayed behind, as did franchise staples Captain America, Thor and Black Widow.

Up until now, the prevailing view has been that, out of all the OG Avengers likely to perish, Steve Rogers will be the one to go. Soldiering is all he knows, and with Chris Evans' contract ostensibly set to end with the next film, the Captain's fate looks sealed.

But that doesn't mean Tony is safe either. RDJ has threatened to call quits on the role plenty of times before, and Avengers 4 looks like it could be the perfect opportunity to bow out. If we're to go with Tony being being an Uncle Ben-esque analogue too, then it could be argued that his death is a vital part of Peter's evolution.

In any case, considering how integral the character's been to Spidey's development so far, there'd have to be a pretty big reason for why he's not around for Far From Home. Death, at the moment, seems like the likeliest explanation.
