Spider-Man: Far From Home Trailer - 11 Easter Eggs And References You Totally Missed
11. A Familiar Press Event
Given Peter Parker's reticent approach to the spotlight, at least in the latter stages of his crimefighting career, it may seem a little odd to see him embrace the cameras at the beginning of Far From Home's trailer. However, it's become a recurring event in the comics as of late, with Peter Parker even being mere seconds away from having his identity unveiled to the public in Homecoming.
At the beginning of the trailer we see Spidey attending a charity event for a New York-based homeless charity, supervised by Marisa Tomei's May Parker. It's a symbol of May's apparent excitement surrounding Peter's superhero career, but it also bears other connotations too.
Firstly, the event is framed in a similar way to the way Peter's identity was revealed to the public in 2006's Civil War, an event that was subsequently wiped from the public's conscious in the following year. There's also the fact that, only a year ago, Aunt May was involved in the public spotlight working for another homeless charity: FEAST, in Insomniac Games' Spider-Man game for the PS4.
Sure, the links are tenuous, but the similarities are interesting to note all the same.
