Spider-Man: Far From Home - What The Explosive Ending Really Means
6. There's Still A Secret Invasion Going On
The post-credits scene obviously deals with the revelation that Talos and Soren - the Skrull couple from Captain Marvel - have been employed by Nick Fury to stand in for himself and Maria Hill (who is weirdly completely absent). Obviously, that inspires thoughts of a Secret Invasion storyline, what with the aliens hiding in disguise as humans, but it's all been flipped upside down.
The Skrulls obviously now work with Nick Fury and his organisation (let's not call it S.H.I.E.L.D. for now, for reasons that will become clear) so it's not likely they're lurking nefariously among humans, BUT there's a hint of another alternate secret invasion all the same.
At one point before we discover that Fury and Hill are actually Talos and Soren, we hear them discussing the existence of top secret Kree sleeper cells. Given the fact that some Kree look no different from humans (like Mar-Vell), it could well be that these sleeper cells are embedded on Earth and are the MCU's stand-in for a Secret Invasion force.
So we maybe don't have to give up on the idea of that storyline being realised in a future MCU movie.
