Spider-Man: Homecoming - 10 Things We Want To See In The Trailer
3. Peter's Rivalry With Flash
You might think that a superhero wouldn't have time for a petty high school rivalry, but that's exactly what makes Flash Thompson such a significant character in Peter Parker's life.
Flash represents the duality of the Spider-Man character: on the one hand he's a hero capable of incredible things, and on the other he's a teenager like the rest of us are or have been: capable of weakness, of awkwardness and of failing to stand up for ourselves.
Draw us into Peter's high school struggles, then, by depicting his rivalry with Flash Thompson. Maybe Flash makes fun of Peter and his friends, or teases them, or maybe he's just a straightforward violent bully. Regardless, giving Peter human vulnerabilities despite the fact he's Spider-Man will make him infinitely more likeable and relatable.
