Spider-Man: Homecoming - 15 Rumours That Were Total BS
How many did you fall for?
Spider-Man: Homecoming is finally in cinemas worldwide, and one of the most entertaining things about seeing every new superhero movie is getting to look back at the absolutely absurd mountain of rumour, guesswork and straight-up lies that preceded their eventual release.
Spider-Man, being one of the most popular comic book characters as he is, and this being his first full-on outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has naturally invited speculation from just about every corner, much of it exciting, some of it puzzling, and a little of it unquestionably terrifying.
These are the 15 rumours that truly caught traction ahead of Homecoming's release, either for their plausibility, their fanboy wish-fulfillment potential, or their sheer bats*** craziness. Each ultimately turned out to be a load of BS, but it was still fun to think about them, right?
As much as comic book movie fans should probably take a few lessons away from this heap of false information, the rumour mill is already working overtime ahead of Thor: Ragnarok and beyond, so it's not looking likely...
15. Black Widow Has A Cameo
The Rumour: With Scarlett Johansson being spotted in Atlanta while the movie was shooting there, fans begun to wonder if maybe, just maybe, Black Widow would also be making a cameo appearance in the movie.
The Truth: There was nothing remotely to this. The only Avengers who appear in the film in any direct fashion are Iron Man and Captain America, the former as a pal of Peter Parker's and the latter by way of a PSA detention video.
The actress was most likely just visiting some of her friends on or around the set in Atlanta, but the salient point is that her superhero has zero screen time in the final movie.
