13. If In Doubt, Hit It With A Hammer

It's pretty firmly established that Peter and Ned - and indeed everybody in their school (apart from maybe Flash Thompson) - are geniuses being fast-tracked for a great future.

At various times, both of the boys show their brilliance, most notably when they hack Tony Stark's complex Spidey suit to run a system diagnostic and to remove the Training Wheels Protocol eventually. It's all very impressive.

Somewhat less impressively, earlier in the film after Peter recovers some of the Chitauri tech dropped by Jackson Brice, the pair unite their brain power and decide that the best way to decode this unknown, glowing technology is to HIT IT WITH A HAMMER.

It turns out to be a bomb, which makes this even more stupid in hindsight. They almost deserved to be blown up.
