Spider-Man: Homecoming Review - 9 Ups & 3 Downs

2. The Rag-Dolling

For the most part, the effects in Homecoming are excellent, building on the strong swing mechanics of Civil War and impressively capturing fully rendered characters a lot throughout the film.

But when the effects aren't quite up to the highest standards, they look really, really poor. Think matrix sequels Agent Smith versus Neo fighting poor. There's way too much rag-dolling - particularly when Spidey is moving fast, and it threatens to really pull you out of the film (especially with the forced perspective of 3D).

The opening shots of Vulture in his suit in the prologue are also pretty poor too, and while it all does get better, there are way too many instances where the effects actually come off as incomplete.
