Spider-Man: Homecoming is just days away from being released worldwide, and the beloved superhero's first proper outing in the MCU has finally started screening for press.
Though formal reviews are embargoed until June 29th, Marvel Studios has allowed critics to tweet their social media impressions, and what a relief it is that they're largely highly positive.
While it's always smart to be wary of pre-release reactions, these opinions are nevertheless from verified Twitter film critics and journalists rather than overzealous fan screening attendees, so they're far more likely to be indicative of how good the movie really is.
Of course, the verdict remains truly out until the film hits screens in early July, but the early word is definitely encouraging...
10. It's At Least The Best Spider-Man Film Since Spider-Man 2
Though opinion seems to vary somewhat on exactly how good, or even great, the movie is, there's a firm early consensus that the film is without question the web-slinger's best effort since 2004's Spider-Man 2.
Sure, the three movies since have been thoroughly mediocre so it's a pretty low bar to clear, but many critics are declaring Homecoming to be close to Spider-Man 2's level of quality, and some even go so far as to claim it's the best Spidey movie yet.
In short, fans can breathe a sigh of a relief: it doesn't suck and you might even love it.
