Spider-Man: Homecoming - What Does The Ending Really Mean?
9. The Ending
After causing a disaster that almost leads to multiple deaths on the Staten Island ferry, Peter sees his suit taken away by Tony Stark as punishment. He goes home and focuses on preparing for his Homecoming Dance, only to discover that his date's dad is actually Adrien Toomes and that he has another big heist planned.
Toomes works out that Peter is Spider-Man and threatens him, only allowing him to live in exchange for his having saved Liz's life in Washington. Ultimately Peter goes after him, leading to a climactic fight first in Toomes' lair and then mid-air as he tries to steal from Tony Stark's freight plane, which crashes. Peter saves New York by steering it out to the beach, he and Vulture fight again and Vulture is defeated, partly by his own greed, and is taken in alive.
Meanwhile, Tony Stark invites Peter to be an Avenger at a ceremony at the new upstate facility. He turns him down, saying he'd prefer to stick low to the ground for now.
