Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse New Trailer Reactions: 7 Ups & 1 Down

4. The Pitch-Perfect Comedic Tone

From the opening montage ripping through Peter Parker's tenure as Spider-Man - including releasing a Christmas single - to the repeat of the "I love you" gag later on, the introduction of Spider-Ham, and that superb end bit, the trailer is stuffed with the kind of jokes that helped turn Lord and Miller into household names.

The irreverent, silly, occasionally meta-comedy plays perfectly with the animation and characters on display, and the entire tone suggests that they know what they're doing with this. Spider-Man himself should be a wisecracker, and that brand of comedy clearly meshes wonderfully with Lord and Miller's.
