12. Maguire And Garfield Didn't Sign On Until Midway Through Filming

Infinitely more so than the previous MCU Spider-Man movies, No Way Home was a complex beast to put together. Can you imagine the pressure of not only bringing all these different elements together, but making them work as a satisfying whole?

Pandemic aside, one key detail that likely made that pressure feel crushing was the fact that Maguire and Garfield - who, as we now know, have meaty, unexpendable roles in the movie - didn't actually sign on until midway through principal photography, with THR noting that the OG Spidey actors only came onboard by December 2020, over a month after Holland started shooting in October.

On the plus side, the final part of the movie (i.e. the stuff with all three Spideys) wasn't shot until later in the production schedule, but still, you'd think that a major tentpole would have everything locked and loaded weeks before production began.
