Spider-Man: No Way Home: 24 WTF Moments

12. Green Goblin Kills Aunt May

No Way Home gives Peter his own twist on the classic character-defining Uncle Ben moment by having Aunt May tragically die at the hands of the Green Goblin.

As Goblin escapes, he's confronted by Spidey, and when Goblin gets the better of him, May comes to his defense, at which point Goblin sends his glider flying through the window, wounding May.

A totally unhinged Goblin then throws a pumpkin bomb which Peter attempts to deflect as it explodes.

In the aftermath, Peter tends to a wounded May, who paraphrases the iconic line, "With great power comes great responsibility," before succumbing to her wounds and dying in Peter's arms.

While perhaps not quite hitting with the impact of Uncle Ben's death in the original Spider-Man, it's still a neat spin on Peter's tragic origin story, giving him the ultimate motivation to take the Goblin down.
