Stallone to write, direct & star in original action thriller!

Sylvester Stallone is making his first original, non-franchised movie since the little seen thriller AVENGING ANGELO in 2002. Variety say the actor will star and direct THE EXPENDABLES, a action thriller that follows a team of mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. Stallone also wrote the screenplay which has THE ONE & WAR duo Jason Statham attached and Jet Li in final talks. The movie is being made at Nu Image, the studio behind his last film RAMBO. Could this be his answer to Quentin's snub for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS? Is Stallone going to find more action A-listers to fill his cast and go balls-to-the-wall with a no holds barred RAMBO-esque violent frenzy! Filming will begin in February in Costa Rica and Louisiana.
