Remember when Star Trek was a sci-fi? Geordi La Forge used to turn up and say some exciting sounding techy jargon that nobody would question because it sounded so authentic, and then he'd scuttle back off to fix whatever "new problem" he'd discovered. Now we LITERALLY get Simon Pegg's Scotty turning on an old spaceship they found (filling in the blanks suggested so far) by plugging two great big wires together. Talk about dumbing it down. Sadly for him, he misses.
