Star Wars: 10 Greatest Disturbances In The Force

5. Yoda Feels The Loss Of Fallen Friends

One of the most tragic occurrences in all six Star Wars movies is when Emperor Palpatine orders the execution of all Jedi with Order 66.

When the order is carried out by Clone Troopers, it distresses Yoda and his typical stoic stability dissolves causing him to fall to his knees and place his hand over presumably where his heart would be. The disturbance felt in the Force is so great it actually causes profound pain within him. Someone as powerful as Yoda clearly has an uncommonly strong connection to all Jedi through the Force, so while Order 66 is being implemented and the Jedi are essentially being exterminated, the disturbance Yoda feels is a deep sense of inner emptiness.

Order 66 ultimately causes the collapse of the Jedi while the disturbance Yoda feels intuitively tells him the extent of betrayal and cautions him in his escape back to Curoscant. Yoda realizes from the disturbance only from the top could such a comprehensive conspiracy come.

More than any other time in the movies, this is the most emotional we see Yoda as he is more moved by the magnitude of this massive massacre than any other experience in his 900 years of life.
