Star Wars: 10 Massive Plot Holes The Sequels Stupidly Created

4. The Destruction Of The Second Death Star

Return Of The Jedi culminates in the utter destruction of the Second Death Star, which is blown to smithereens after an aerial assault spearheaded by Lando Calrissian.

In the iconic shot from Episode VI, it looks like the Death Star is annihilated completely.

In The Rise Of Skywalker, however, it becomes apparent that not only did parts of the exterior shell of the Death Star survive the explosion, landing in tact into the sea of Kef Bir, the entire Empire's throne room was undamaged despite its proximity to a massive shaft leading right down to the space station's core. In fact, the Death Star was so well preserved after the explosion that it even managed to generate a secrete hidden room where Rey could face a Dark Side version of herself, despite the room not existing at all in the Original Trilogy. Right....

The Dark Side of the Force may be "a path to many abilities some consider to be unnatural", for sure, but there isn't much that can explain how such a significant part of the structure survived that explosion.

Even more head scratch inducing is the fact that the Blade of Ochi somehow managed to point Rey directly to the Emperor's throne room, its accuracy despite the wreckage floating in water being beyond comprehension.
