Though regarded as not a true Sith, by Darth Sidious, Ventress was powerful enough for Sidious to see her as a threat to his authority, and ordered Count Dooku to do away with his new apprentice.

Taken from the planet Dathomir as a child, Asajj Ventress was taken in by Jedi Knight Ky Narec, who saw her Force potential and made her his Jedi Padawan. She was trained as a Padawan for 10 years, before Narec was shot and killed by pirates - leaving the young Ventress alone.

She took her Master's lightsaber, and slew his murderers; embracing the Dark Side, this set Ventress on a path she would tread until she died. Her power enabled her to rule the planet Rattatak, which drew the attention of Count Dooku - he then took her in, and trained her as his own Sith Apprentice and assassin.

Following Dooku's betrayal of her at Sidious' request, Ventress was reunited with Mother Talzin, who set about plotting the assassination of Dooku.

Ventress was crucial to this plan, and was chosen by Talzin to lead the assassination attempt. Though the plan failed, Ventress survived, proving her status as a formidable enemy of both the Jedi and the Sith.
