Vader: Dark Visions #1 focuses on an unnamed planet that enjoyed peace for many years until an enormous monster decimated most life on the surface and forced the surviving inhabitants underground. The creature (dubbed "Ender" by the inhabitants) lived on the world to terrorise the survivors for several decades. Until Darth Vader showed up.

Crash landing on the planet during a dogfight with the Rebel Alliance, Vader stepped out of his star fighter to realise he had landed on top of the massive monster, which reared up from its sleep to kill Vader. This didn't seem to trouble the Sith Lord too much, as he went about trying to kill the creature with his lightsaber; stabbing it in the eye and running his blade all over the skin of the creature.

Even though the creature was armed with gigantic teeth and the ability to breathe fire, it proved to be no match for Darth Vader, who after a long struggle, was able to disembowel the creature, ending its life and the oppression of the original inhabitants. Not only did Vader survive against all odds, he managed to free an entire civilisation that had lived in fear for generations. How nice of him.

Darth Vader is likely one of the only characters in the Star Wars universe who would have survived such an encounter, cementing his status as one of the most powerful and intimidating Sith Lords who ever lived.
