Together, Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader were two of the most dominant individuals in the galaxy, with the two of them able to sustain an entire galactic-wide rule for close to twenty years. Fleets of starships and millions of Stormtroopers were at their command, and with all of that power at their disposal, it's no surprise that the two committed various atrocities while they were ruling the galaxy.

Case in point, the 2015 novel Lords of the Sith, in which Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader join the fray alongside their countless soldiers to stop a rebellion on the planet Ryloth, the leaders of which saw a chance to end Imperial rule by assassinating the Emperor and his right-hand man.

After the Twi'lek insurgents hijacked an Imperial ship, Vader used his own ship as a battering ram to force the insurgents to crash land. Once they were captured, Vader and his master decided on the most bloodthirsty course of action that anyone could possibly think of, and ordered their soldiers to execute the Twi'lek troops one by one, whilst the insurgent general could hear over the ship's communications.

An utterly merciless choice, this shows that Vader, as well as Emperor Palpatine, were not willing to show any small kindnesses to anyone who opposed them. The death sentences of the rebellious Twi'leks was not only morally devastating to the surviving insurgents and anyone else who would dare to oppose the Empire, but served as a perfect example of how Darth Vader would take no prisoners when serving his master, and that mercy was not a concept he would be willing to put into practice.
