9. Hes Made An Imprint On Our Culture
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R55e-uHQna0 Its really amazing to me how a series of films can enter our cultural conscience in such a profound way. Yes, most fans know that the cultural underpinnings of Star Wars were inspired by the work of Joseph Campbell, where Lucas used classic archetypes as the basis for character development, giving them cross-cultural appeal. And sure, back in 1977 the term "may the force by with you" became sort of a cultural handshake. More recently, one of the most popular Super Bowl commercials was about a little boy dressed up as Darth Vader trying to harness the power of the force, but it goes deeper than that. I mean, Star Wars has even permeated corporate America; Ive heard people who are great at their job be referred to as a Jedi. People call executives who clamp down on expenses Dark Lords, and when someone masterfully convinces someone to change their mind in a meeting, they performed a Jedi Mind Trick. Hows that for cultural impact?
