Star Wars: 10 Reasons Yoda Shouldn't Get His Own Spin-Off

5. It€™ll Have To Be Yoda: The Early Years

yoda dies OK, spoilers ahead for Return of the Jedi, so turn away now if you don€™t want a small part of a film made 30 years ago revealed. Still here? Good. The fact that Yoda physically dies in Jedi, means that a spin-off film is going to have look at two points in his life. Either "Dagobah Days" from the end of Episode 3, where we watch him explore a swamp and build a bungalow. That sounds unlikely, so it€™s probably going to be his early days as a Jedi. I€™ve already laid out my problems with that, and the air of mystery that is essential to the character being diminished, but I€™ll also always have in the back of my mind that I know how his story ultimately turns out. I also know he won€™t die in the prequel, removing any sense of danger from proceedings.

I'm a Westcountry exile now living in Yorkshire with lovely wife and cats (also lovely). I'm a big fan of films, robots, timetravel, and films about timetravelling robots, as well as lots of other action, sci-fi and comedy. I'm currently trying to write a sitcom that doesn't involve robots, and I also blog nonsense on timolsky.blogspot.com. Thanks for taking the time to read my stuff, and feel free to comment.
