Star Wars: 10 Secrets Of The Lightsaber You Need To Know
2. Lightsabers Aren't Cheap
Because lightsabers are entrusted to Jedi and Sith by their mentors, you never really think how much they are worth. I mean, you can't exactly buy a laser sword at the store, can you? Even if lightsabers were a product one could buy at a vendor in Mos Eisley or Coruscant, the average customer would probably chop their limb off in two seconds unless they were Force-sensitive.
But no matter how dangerous or unstable a product is, there's always a market for it if it's desirable. Although lightsabers cannot be purchased legally, they can be found on the black market. And because so many Jedi died during the Clone Wars, there's much more of these ancient weapons being found and sold than you would think.
This brings us to the big question - how much is a lightsaber worth? Well, it depends. According to the Rise of the Separatists book, a lightsaber can be as a cheap as 8,000 credits. (One credit is worth the equivalent of $1 dollar in the Star Wars universe.) However, some lightsabers are more coveted than others, depending on who originally wielded it. The highest price paid for a lightsaber on record is 500,000 credits.
