Star Wars: 10 Strongest Female Characters Of All Time
4. Leia Organa
The original, and still the best. A big reason the Original Trilogy escapes too much criticism for its lack of female characters, aside from its sheer quality, is the presence of Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia Organa.
So much more than a princess in a tower (or space station) needing to be saved, Leia is a true leader, a great shot with a blaster, and one of the bravest and most important members of the Rebellion, and later the Resistence, devoting her entire life to the cause. She also strangled Jabba to death, freeing herself from his oppression.
The daughter of Anakin, she also clearly has some connection to the Force, although the movies have never really explored it (even just one moment of Leia powerfully using the Force in Episode VIII would be awesome to see).
In the EU her powers have been fleshed out more, where she's trained as a Jedi, saved Luke from the Dark Side, and even went lightsaber-to-lightsaber with him.
