Star Wars: 10 Things Colin Trevorrow's Episode 9 Script Did Better Than The Rise Of Skywalker

7. It Shows Us Vader In All His Glory

Even Trevorrow couldn't resist a few callbacks or fan service set-pieces now and again (he was writing a Disney Star Wars film, after all), but this one would have been pretty freaking cool.

Heavily referencing Luke's Force-cave fight with Vader in The Emperor Strikes Back, this middle act fight would have also been a clash involving a Force vision. But instead of the trippy camerawork of the awkwardly-shot scene in Empire, this sequence would have allegedly given us Vader in all his glory, pulling no punches as he absolutely owns Kylo Ren, grandfather putting grandson firmly in his place.

Seeing a Rogue One-esque Vader ripping into Kylo would have been pretty cool, if only for the fan service. Admittedly, It might not have made much sense in the context of the film besides from acting as an inverse of Luke's vision, but it would have been far slicker than any of the ridiculous fan service moments we did get in Skywalker (what, Lando just happened to be on Pasaana?).

If you're listening Disney, give us a live-action height-of-his-power Darth Vader soon.
