6. Recruiting An Apprentice

The Rule of Two states that there can only be two Sith at any given time: a master and an apprentice. With such fierce competition, we're shown power plays across the prequels and original trilogy, where either the master or apprentice looks for new blood. Count Dooku urges Obi-Wan to help end Darth Sidious, Darth Sidious sets Anakin against Count Dooku, and Darth Vader offers Luke the chance to join him in ending the Emperor. Given this cyclical practice of treachery, what if Vader tries earlier than Luke to find someone to help overthrow the Emperor? While consider non-canon, the video game The Force Unleashed explores this possibility. Vader secretly enlists Galen Marek to eliminate the remaining Jedi from Order 66. The overall game seemed to strike a chord with fans, since over one million copies were sold within its first month of release in 2008. Using that same idea of Vader looking for new help could add a whole new dimension to Vader's character, while also providing yet another obstacle for the Rebels. Interestingly enough, Rogue One actor Mads Mikkelsen, recently signed a fan's poster and added "Galen" below it. Could this be the same Galen Marek, or is it just a coincidence?
