Star Wars: 10 Things The Last Jedi Has To Explain

1. Why Did Luke Hide?

Of all the questions posed by The Force Awakens, one unanswered thread drives the whole plot yet remains unresolved: why did Luke hide?

Luke Skywalker withdrew from the galaxy, apparently in response to his failure to re-establish the Jedi. Yet he keeps his location hidden, so much so that many people die trying to find him again. Why did Luke go to so much effort to remain unfound? What has he been doing? What has he got to hide?

The only hint is that he is looking for the 'first Jedi temple', but that was just a guess at Luke's activities by Han Solo who hasn't seen Luke for years. Given how difficult it was to find Luke, he seems to have been protecting his location from the Resistance as well as the First Order, so it's likely - even probable - that whatever Luke has been doing during his exile, it's something the rest of the Resistance won't like.

Rey looks set to find out what Luke's plan is in The Last Jedi. It's inconceivable that the eighth Star Wars episode won't explain at least some of what Luke is up to. If not, Episode 9 will have a hell of a lot to deliver.
