Star Wars: 10 Things The Last Jedi Has To Explain

3. Is Snoke Even Real?

Snoke Real
Lucasfilm/Disney

The identity of Supreme Leader Snoke, who came out of nowhere to become a potential primary antagonist for the entire current trilogy, is an issue seemingly written precisely to get fans speculating about it. Snoke is a Force user (probably) devoted to the Dark Side (probably) who is orchestrating the First Order towards some uncertain end that involves huge amounts of destruction.

Except, maybe he's not. Snoke is only encountered via hologram. He's never encountered 'in the flesh'. His will is done by proxies in the form of General Hux and Kylo Ren. There's no certainty that Snoke is even real.

Snoke could be a completely artificial creation, transmitted by holographic projection to give orders on behalf of someone who wishes to remain unidentified. Could he be the creation of Luke Skywalker? Of an alien, wary of the old Empire's disdain of non-human species? Of the Dark Side itself?

With Kylo Ren joining Snoke to complete his training, the answer will be given one way or the other. At least, it had better be.
