Star Wars: 10 Things You Might Not Know About Emperor Palpatine

2. He Had A Son In Legends With Three Eyes

Palpatine didn’t just have a son in Canon, however. In Legends, the manipulations and experimentations by himself and Darth Plagueis created a Human Mutant known as ‘Triclops’. While the direct events of this mutant creation were unknown, he is thought to have been born from Sly Moore, a female force-sensitive Umbaran who served as Senior Administrative Aide to Palpatine during his time as Chancellor.

Triclops was so named due to the fact he had a third eye located on the back of his head. Palpatine held nothing but contempt for Triclops, and while he was originally trained to serve as the Emperor’s Eye, he was eventually imprisoned in the Spice Mines of Kessel. This prison was run by another three-eyed individual named Trioculus, who was also created from Palpatine’s experimentation and considered himself to be a son of Palpatine.

Trioculus was one of two people who attempted to gain the title of Emperor after the battle of Endor, the other being Ysanne Isard - the former Director of Imperial Intelligence. He was obsessed with finding the son of Triclops, a Jedi Prince named Ken, and was eventually killed by droid impersonating Princess Leia. Triclops, on the other hand, defected to the Rebel Alliance.
