Star Wars: 10 Worst Things The Jedi Ever Did

8. Training Anakin

When Qui-Gon Jinn dies in The Phantom Menace, his last request is for Obi-Wan and the Jedi to train Anakin, who he believes to be the Chosen One. The Jedi Council is hesitant to follow through on Qui-Gon's wish, since they sensed some darkness in Anakin and his future.

However, despite their reluctance, the Jedi eventually approve Anakin's training, and welcome him into the Order as a rather old Padawan. Anakin becomes a wise and powerful Jedi, but only until he becomes a cruel and merciless Sith Lord known as Darth Vader. It seems that the Jedi's initial fear of training the boy was well founded.

If the Jedi sensed darkness in Anakin's future, why would they ever approve his training? Yes, honouring Qui-Gon would have been nice, but the Jedi are trained in using the Force for a reason. If they had trusted their initial instincts and not trained Anakin, then Darth Vader would never have terrorised the galaxy.
