Star Wars: 20 Things You Didn't Know About Return Of The Jedi

2. George Lucas Regretted Boba Fett's Death Scene

One of the most baffling aspects of Return of the Jedi is the goofy death of Boba Fett (Jeremy Bulloch), a breakout character who seemed destined for much greater things, and courtesy of subsequent retcons, ultimately was.

Lucas himself later admitted that he regretted giving Boba Fett such a deflating death, having failed to realise how popular the character had become from his appearance in The Empire Strikes Back.

Lucas added that had he realised, he would've endeavoured to give the character a more meaningful and memorable death scene, and by the time he was prepping Return of the Jedi's 2004 DVD release, he even considered adding a VFX shot of Fett escaping the Sarlacc pit.

Though this was well within his means, Lucas ultimately exercised a rare feat of restraint by deciding not to impose another change upon the existing story.
