Star Wars: 50 Greatest Moments - Ranked

25. Luke & Leia Reunite (The Last Jedi)

Star Wars The Last Jedi Luke Leia
Lucasfilm

With The Force Awakens killing off Han Solo and stranding Luke on an island, it robbed us the chance of seeing all three original heroes back together again in the sequel trilogy. The Last Jedi did, at least, bring the two siblings together though - sort of.

Although later revealed to be a projection, the moment on Crait where Luke and Leia are reunited is a beautifully touching one, with little asides injected by the actors themselves (such as Carrie Fisher’s line about her hair).

Knowing that this was Fisher’s last Star Wars movie heightened the emotional impact, but just seeing the two together, and accepting that Ben Solo can’t be brought back - along with the inclusion of Han via the gold dice - is enough in itself. Johnson said this moment was like church on set, and you feel that in the scene’s power.
